First Measures in Orthodontic Emergencies
If a wire end is poking you, you can temporarily cover it with orthodontic wax or clean cotton and rinse with warm salt water to protect your cheek. Keep a loose bracket and do not try to cut or bend the wire yourself. You may apply cold to the injured area. These measures are temporary; you need to come to the clinic to have the wire re-adjusted and the bracket re-bonded.
