No; it is done under local anaesthesia. On the contrary, it is the treatment that relieves the existing severe pain.

02 How long does a root-canal-treated tooth last?

With a suitable crown and care, many years; protecting the tooth with a crown after the canal increases its lifespan.

03 Is extraction better than a root canal?

Preserving the natural tooth is usually best; an extracted tooth's space needs an implant/bridge. Where possible a root canal is preferred.

04 How many sessions does it take?
