Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth too damaged to be saved, severely decayed or fractured. The aim is to protect the surrounding teeth and tissue and to end pain and infection. At Dent360, extraction is done under local anaesthesia as tissue-respectfully as possible; implant or bridge options for the resulting gap are planned together with the patient.

01 Is tooth extraction painful?

With local anaesthesia you feel no pain during the procedure; the mild tenderness afterward is easily managed.

02 What should I watch for after extraction?

In the first 24 hours protecting the clot is important; avoid spitting, sucking and smoking, and apply the recommended pressure.

03 Will the gap be left empty?

Filling the gap with an implant or bridge is advised; otherwise neighbouring teeth can shift.

04 When is extraction necessary?

It may be needed with advanced decay, an unsalvageable fracture, serious infection or certain orthodontic/impacted-tooth situations.

05 How long does healing take?

Soft tissue heals in a few days and full healing within a few weeks; following advice speeds the process.
