Oral diagnosis and radiology use digital X-ray and imaging methods for the accurate diagnosis of problems in the mouth and jaw region. Panoramic and, when needed, 3D tomography reveal conditions invisible to the eye, such as decay, cysts, impacted teeth, and bone and nerve position. 01 Is a dental X-ray harmful?

Digital X-ray uses a very low dose and is taken when necessary; its diagnostic benefit far outweighs the risk.

02 Why is 3D tomography needed?

In implant, impacted-tooth and surgical planning it shows bone and nerve position in three dimensions, increasing safety.

03 How long does imaging take?

A panoramic X-ray takes a few seconds and tomography a few minutes; the result is assessed quickly.

04 Is an X-ray taken at every examination?

No; it is taken only when necessary for diagnosis. The aim is to avoid unnecessary procedures with an accurate diagnosis.

05 Is an X-ray taken during pregnancy?

Unless essential it is postponed; when needed it is done with protective measures and the lowest dose.
