Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth (third molars) often do not fully fit in the jaw; they remain impacted, lie sideways or partially erupt, causing pain, infection and pressure on neighbouring teeth. In these cases surgical extraction is needed. 01 Should every wisdom tooth be extracted?

No; a healthy, fully erupted wisdom tooth that causes no problems may not be extracted. The decision is made with X-ray and examination.

02 Is the procedure painful?

Under local anaesthesia you feel no pain; the mild swelling and tenderness afterward pass in a few days.

03 Is impacted tooth extraction risky?

Nerve and root position are assessed beforehand on X-ray; this planning makes the procedure safe.

04 What speeds healing?

Cold application on the first day, protecting the clot, avoiding smoking and following advised care speed healing.

05 Will my face swell after extraction?

Mild swelling can occur and is normal; cold application and advice reduce it, and it subsides in a few days.
